What is a Registered Dietitian (RD)?

The title “Registered Dietitian” is protected by law through provincial legislation. Registered Dietitians (RD) are trained regulated health care professionals that use the best evidence to provide practical food, diet, and nutrition advice/solutions. They look at each client as an individual and provide appropriate information and tools that are unique to that individual’s needs. They are able to separate fact from fiction in an age which social media and news provide conflicting and confusing nutrition information. Registered Dietitians can be found in health care (clinical setting), community or public health settings, private practise, the food industry, administrative settings, and research settings.
